Avfacts is a CASA recognised theory provider. Pride is taken in the high standard of tuition given, and the resultant high candidate pass rates for which I am renowned. You can enroll in any number of subject areas.

PROGRESSIVE ONLINE CYBER-QUIZZES

Most sub-topics within a subject have an online review quiz provided at CASA examination level. They are carefully constructed to ensure they are relevant to the CASA syllabus, examination style and depth. This allows you to check your understanding as you progress, and fix any misunderstandings before moving on to the next sub-topic, just as Boeing and Airbus do in their type endorsement training programs. You are marked automatically when you finish each quiz. The question, the answer you selected, and your score are presented to you on-screen for verification. These quizzes may be attempted a number of times so you can use them as a quick review of any particular syllabus/topic area. Where mathematics or plotting are required (e.g. Flight Planning, or P charts in Performance and Loading subjects), these are provided as a PDF from a hypertext link next to your score on the results/marking webpage, so you can compare your working to the datum values.

PRACTICE EXAMINATIONS

There are multiple final practice exams in the course provided for all subjects. As with the sub-topic quizzes they are carefully constructed to ensure they are relevant to the CASA syllabus, examination style and depth, including the tricks and traps commonly encountered in the real CASA exams. They are delivered online as cyber-exams, just like the CASA examinations. Where mathematics or plotting are required (e.g. Flight Planning, or P charts in Performance and Loading subjects), these are typically provided as a PDF from a hypertext link next to your score on the results/marking webpage, so you can compare your working to the datum values and identify quickly where you made any errors.

HELPLINE

This is provided for your convenience by phone or via the email at robaveryaviationshop@gmail.com
I personally attend to any queries you may have, and you are encouraged to use the helpline to save study time.

The exams should preferably be attempted in a certain order to give yourself the best chance of passing on first attempt. Some subjects are best tackled one at a time, while some others may be blocked together. I will give you the advice you need if you contact me by phone or email.

COURSE UPDATES

Courses are all updated on a constant basis to ensure you get the latest training and focus on what CASA expect of you.

PASS RATE

As my previous students will attest, almost all pass each of the CASA exams on first attempt. They enjoy a first-sit pass rate that is well above the the national average, especially in flight planning, navigation, and aerodynamics and systems subjects. This is largely because of the straightforward teaching method, and abbreviated routines used to cut the time required to get the correct answer where calculations are required. Obviously, I cannot guarantee you a pass, you will need to put in the work. You can be confident you are getting the good oil.

EXAM CREDIT VALIDITY

Under the CASA PEXO system you must pass all seven exams within two years of attempting the first, or risk having to undertake a re-sit of those over two years old. Completion of all seven topics within the two years allocated, means you hold a frozen ATPL, the license itself being issued on your gaining the required flight experience. There is a specific flight test required for issue of the Australian ATPL licence.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The courses require Internet access for marking. Compatible with PC’s, and Apple Computers and IPAD’s using Internet Explorer, Chrome, Edge or Firefox browsers, NOT Safari.

What you will find on this course: Topics are delivered in a simplistic way to allow you to find the correct examination model answer in the least time, and with the least working. I have a philosophy that less working means a reduced chance of errors. I know the easy ways of tackling the typical ATPL type questions, and throughout the courses I will teach you the 'command sense- no nonsense' way of getting marks on the board, especially in the flight planning examination.

What you won't find on these courses: There is no extraneous data presented, only that which is relevant. You do not have to be a 'whizz-kid' to pass these examinations, simply dedicated to the task, and prepared to work steadily and diligently through the course material. The information presented is designed not only to assist you passing the exam, but also to prepare you for an airline interview thereafter, especially the demanding technical examination.

Remember: An ATPL pass may get you the airline interview, but only knowledge will get you the job !

REGISTERING FOR A COURSE

Student bookings are confirmed when the payment for the topic(s) is received. You can enroll in any individual subject. At that time you will be sent your personal and unique access passwords to the online courses you have ordered. All course fees are receipted, and the course is usually tax deductible for working pilots. For more information on the ATPL courses please contact Rob Avery direct at: robaveryaviationshop@gmail.com or phone 0467 045 936

GENERAL

The ATPL examination is viewed as a filter for the airlines. Passing it is a pre-requisite before you will be considered for an interview with major airlines, irrespective of the flying experience you may possess.

The ATPL license is the highest form of license world-wide, and qualifies you to act as Captain on aircraft up to the B747-400 and A380. Consequently the demands placed on candidates by the examination are understandably high. The ATPL theory should be considered by you as being the first part of your airline command training.

ABOUT YOUR LECTURER (Rob Avery)

I started flying in 1975, holding a professional pilots license, multi-engine IFR, and have been involved in teaching to various leading industry pilot training providers and airlines in the ATPL subject for in excess of 30 years in addition to running private courses such as this. My company (Avfacts) also produces the largest range of Australian specific RPL, PPL, CPL, IREX, and ATPL practice exams, and produce 'limited Edition' ATPL training texts and which are accepted as the definitive/focused word on the ATPL subjects, and used by some of Australia's premier pilot training establishments to underpin their in-class ATPL course delivery. Unlike the ATPL 'courses' (contact me directly for courses) these are available at pilot supply shops throughout Australia.

POST-COVID RECOVERY PILOT SHORTAGE PREDICTIONS (at August 2022)
FYI

Aircraft manufacturers and aviation industry experts expect around 600,000 more skilled pilots will be required over the next 20 years as travel industry analysis indicates the global pre-pandemic pilot shortage will return shortly after travel demand plateaus at normal levels, with the pandemic only pressing “pause” on the issue.

Now that demand is nearing pre-pandemic levels, the shortage of pilots is already being found to be even more severe, largely due to the airlines offering retirement to older pilots during the pandemic, and many pilots nearing retirement deciding to retire earlier than previously planned. Airline requirements globally have dropped to as low as 500 hours total time, with 200 hours multi-time for consideration for a single aisle passenger jet such as the A320 and B737. Expect to be picked up by an airlines as soon as you reach these hour goals and having passed the seven ATPL exams.

Add to this, over half of the active pilot workforce was due to reach the mandatory age of retirement within 15 years, and of that, half of those were expected to retire within 5 years. Other forecasters that predict the airline industry would require 260,000 new pilots by 2030.

So best get on with your ATPL studies right now, so that you are fully qualified for airline entry as the surge in pilot jobs kicks in strongly.
